Diversity Myopia: How D&I Shortsightedness Could Set Your Company Up for A Crisis and What To Do About it.
One of the core premises in behavioral science is that people are often ‘myopic’, or shortsighted, even when it comes to our own wellbeing; we tend to make decisions based on our current, rather than future states. In the tech world, myopia in diversity & inclusion strategy is widespread. Many companies seem to fight fires as they come. Approaching D&I as preventative, rather than reactive strategy, however, is essential for sustainable success. I will discuss several ways to avoid fire-fighting & how to integrate crisis-prevention into the fabrics of cultures from the get go.
