Understanding and Addressing Intersectionality

Intersectionality is the oppression and discrimination resulting from the overlap of an individual’s various social identities including, but not limited to, race, sexuality and gender. There is strong evidence that suggests discrimination overlaps, and while we might deal with the issues separately, denying the convergence can leave individuals vulnerable. A lack of intersectionality keeps people from fully understanding and expressing who they are to the world. This session will reveal why addressing intersectionality is important, how to foster meaningful discussions surrounding this crucial topic, and strategies to achieve a more inclusive workplace environment.
